National Community Crime Prevention Program

The Australian Government's $64 million National Community Crime Prevention Program (NCCPP) funding includes $6 million announced by the Prime Minister on 30 September 2005 for security related infrastructure, including Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems. Organisation.

The Prevention, Diversion and Rehabilitation Program

The Australian Government Attorney-General's Department provides funding through the Prevention, Diversion, Rehabilitation and Restorative Justice Program (PDRR) to develop and undertake activities that will divert Indigenous Australians away from adverse contact with the legal system. The program is also intended to facilitate activities that will rehabilitate and support Indigenous Australians who have been incarcerated or are in custody.

Living in Harmony

The `Living in Harmony' program is an Australian government initiative which creates opportunities for everyone to participate in an Australian way of life. The program involves the whole Australian community and aims to create a unified society, where individuals respect one another and where everyone is committed to a shared future of peace, stability and opportunity. The program is implemented through a series of grants such as funded community projects, strategic partnerships and a public information strategy which incorporates Harmony Day, held annually on 21 March.

Settlement Grants Program

The Australian Government, through the Settlement Grants Program, funds services which help migrants become self reliant and participate equitably in Australian society as soon as possible after arrival. These services are directed towards permanent residents who have arrived in the last five years as humanitarian entrants or as family stream migrants with low English proficiency, communities needing assistance to develop capacity to meet their needs that are receiving significant numbers of new arrivals, and dependants of skilled migrants in rural and regional areas who have low English proficiency.

Volunteer Small Equipment Grants

The Volunteer Small Equipment Grants program provides non profit community organisations with funds to purchase equipment to directly support volunteers whose work contributes to supporting families and communities in Australia. This year the program will incorporate a new government initiative, VSEG - Sport. This component provides funds to organisations to help cover costs such as club sporting equipment and uniforms, training of volunteer coaches, and travel to participate in sporting events.
